33rd Africa Committee meeting

The 33rd Africa Committee meeting took place in Accra, Ghana from 9 to 15 March 2009.

The Africa Committee members discussed the implementation of the Africa Region’s operational plan for 2009 -2011.The main priorities for the next three years are : to continue to strengthen strategic leadership in all MOs through training. The reinforcement of the fundraising strategies of the Africa Region and partnership with other youth and women’s organizations. The organization of the next Regional conference in 2010 was also a main topic of discussion during the meeting, as well as WAGGGS’ Vision 2020

The meeting was an opportunity for the Africa Region to witness the work of the Ghana Girl Guides Association; the opening ceremony was attended by a representative of the Ministry Of Women And Children’s Affairs and many Girl Guides and partners of the Ghana Girl Guides Association. A courtesy visit was made to UNICEF and the representative promised to work closely with Ghana Girl Guides Association on the promotion of Children’s rights.
